Fraser-Nicola MLA Harry Lali said today he is pulling out of the race to lead the B.C. New Democratic Party.
"My heart's definitely there, but the money and the resources are not," he said reading from a prepared statement.
The party requires a $15,000 deposit from candidates and any money raised after that has to be split with the party.
Lali said it would cost at least $100,000 to run a serious campaign, which would mean having to raise at least $215,000.
"That isn't going to happen for me," he said.
He thanked his supporters and wished the remaining candidates well, though he said he is not ready to endorse anyone else. It was a tough decision to withdraw, he said.
