NDP leadership candidate Mike Farnworth said he plans to release an economic plan in the next few weeks, but declined to say whether he will adopt Adrian Dix's position on canceling corporate tax cuts.
"In the weeks to come I will be putting together a comprehensive economic strategy which will deal, along with the issue of taxes, with other approaches to our economy," Farnworth said when asked about Dix's proposal. "Stay tuned."
Farnworth said his strategy will be comprehensive and not released piece meal. He was at the legislature this morning, where he received Surrey-Fleetwood MLA Jagrup Brar's endorsement.
Dix announced last week he would roll back corporate tax cuts. "We're talking about returning tax rates to where they were in 2008, and that was after seven years of Liberal government," he said.
It would put B.C.'s corporate tax rate in line with other provinces, he added, noting that students now pay more in tuition fees in B.C. than corporations pay in taxes.
