While the B.C. New Democrats' Provincial Council met on Saturday, insiders and outsiders were covering the event on Twitter.
Sara Goldvine, communications director for the B.C. NDP caucus, was tweeting Carole James's opening speech almost sentence by sentence. Sample tweet: Carole James: Now is the time for us to unite in our resolve + move forward on behalf of those we serve.
Meanwhile, BCGEU vice-president Lorene Oikawa was tweeting her trip over to Victoria and also posting to #bcndp and #bcpoli.
Sean Holman of Public Eye Online was both tweeting and also covering the council meeting on his blog.
Also tweeting the council meeting was ANewsVanIsland, which reported that "13 NDP caucus members aren't wearing 'pro-Carole' scarves @ showdown mtg in Victoria."
Notably, Carole James herself had not tweeted since November 13. BCNDP, as of 11:00 a.m., had tweeted only once, to describe a "packed room" for the council meeting. MLAs such as Jagrup Brar, Adrian Dix, and Raj Chouhan had no recent tweets.
Katrine Conroy, whose resignation from the caucus whip position triggered a crisis in the party, appeared to have tweeted only twice this year.
