The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

MLA Macdonald resigns as BC NDP caucus chair

Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA Norm Macdonald has resigned as caucus chair of the opposition British Columbia New Democratic Party.

The NDP issued a short statement just after noon today saying Macdonald had resigned and is being replaced by Burnaby-Deer Lake MLA Kathy Corrigan on an acting basis.

Macdonald was not immediately available for comment.

Last week NDP leader Carole James ejected Cariboo North MLA Bob Simpson from the caucus citing comments he'd made critical of her speech to the Union of B.C. Municipalities.
