Travellers could face disruptions at Vancouver's airport Monday morning because of a labour dispute.
On Sunday night, negotiators for Servisair left the bargaining table without waiting for a union response to a proposal regarding refuelling supervisors.
Paris-based Servisair had served a 72-hour lockout notice on Thursday to 21 supervisors and administrative staff.
Stephen Dunsmore, of the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees, says Servisair plans to use untested replacement workers during a lockout.
He adds that if there is a lockout, the union will take what he calls “appropriate actions” to pressure Servisair to reach a contract.
Dunsmore says Servisair used a similar lockout threat in April against 73 airport refuellers, but a contract was reached without disrupting service.
The union has been bargaining with Servisair since last fall over the key issues of wages and hours of work.
The company provides fuel for Air Canada, WestJet and other airlines in Vancouver as well as 128 locations worldwide.
