Vicki Huntington was the sole independent elected tonight, with 10,392 votes against 7,900 votes for Liberal candidate Bruce Macdonald.

Independent incumbent John van Dongen lost in Abbotsford South to Liberal candidate Darryl Plecas by 3,123 votes.

Bob Simpson, independent incumbent in Cariboo North, lost his seat to Liberal Coralee Oakes with tighter results: 4,933 to 5,459 votes. And the BC Liberal candidate Pat Pimm in Peace River North retained his lead with 5,301 votes against independent Arthur Hadland's 2,674 votes.
