Wish there were election debates on issues that matter most, like the right to sunbathe nude in public? Curious about each candidate’s stance on working less and sleeping more? Then one former city councillor has just the event for you.
Last Candidate Standing will be Vancouver's “first truly all-candidates debate,” said host Gordon Price. Instead of a two-party debate with the same repeated rhetoric, Price decided to add a carnival element by inviting every mayoral and council candidate to attend – all 47 of them.
Potential debaters range from pot activist Marc Emery to members from the Work Less Party and the Nude Garden Party. Each candidate will field questions from members of the local media in a night of politics and theatrics, where personalities will dominate policies.
Price said that an attendee list was not yet available, so anything’s possible. Will Peter Ladner debate Patrick Britten on nude flesh? Will Gregor Robertson finally share a stage with the feared Betty Krawczyk? Attend the debate on Nov. 7 at the SFU Harbour Centre to find out.
