The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

The Hook lands on top lists

The Hook has been selected as a 2008 Weblog Awards finalist in two categories: Best New Blog and Best Political Coverage. This is, near as we can tell, the world's largest blog competition. Voting starts today (January 5).

Meanwhile, widely-read blogger Werner Patels wanted to determine the top 25 political blogs in Canada and decided there were two ways to go about it. He looked at top performers on Technorati and derived this list that doesn’t include the Hook. He then used Google rankings and The Hook came up number five on that one.

We also landed number three on this list of January’s top 25 political blogs compiled by blogger Robert Jago.

Congrats to all who contribute to The Hook, and thanks to all who read us.

David Beers is founding editor of The Tyee, which launched its political news blog, The Hook, in September of 2008.
