The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

Tory candidate kisses his chances goodbye

A longtime Conservative regional councillor in Ontario has put his political future in doubt after saying federal stimulus money goes only to Tory ridings.

Gordon Landon, who hoped to run for the Conservatives in Markham-Unionville, got himself in trouble by saying on television that stimulus money would not go to Markham as long as it wasn't a Conservative riding.

The Star's Ottawa correspondent Susan Delacourt wrote: "I predict this is the last we'll ever hear of Gordon Landon."
