In a CNN interview with Fareed Zakaria, taped last Monday but broadcast Sunday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper says NATO can't beat the Taliban insurgency.

According to CBC News, Harper told Zakaria:

"We're not going to ever defeat the insurgency. My reading of Afghanistan in history is that it's probably had an insurgency forever of some kind."

The interview itself, on CNN, includes Harper's admission that while he's not a Keynesian, a major stimulus is essential to get us out of the present economic crisis.
