The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

Right-wing bloggers react to ‘Coupscam’

With Stephen Harper safely in power until late January, his supporters in the blogosphere have interestingly varied responses to yesterday’s prorogation.

The Lotusland Soapbox notes perceptively that the surge in Harper support comes, ironically, from “the only major doozy of a strategic blunder he’s made.”

At The Shotgun, P.M. Jaworski reports on polls that say support is surging not only for Harper (51%), but also for Western separatism (52% in an admittedly unscientific poll).

Also out of the closet as a separatist, Frank Hilliard at Mesopotamia West says: “We need to encourage Quebec to realize its national identity before it destroys ours. The statist and particularist drag on Canadian politics exerted by Quebec has to end.”

Secrets of Vancouver sniffs at various estimates of the crowds at Vancouver’s pro-coalition rally on Thursday night.

At Conservative Reporter’s Weblog, the Conservative Reporter admiringly quotes various sources on the follies of “Coupscam” and invites visitors to take comfort from the views of Terence Corcoran.

Hunter, at Climbing out of the Dark into the conservative light, warns readers: “No victory is in sight yet, we have won only a short reprieve. Do not underestimate your foe. They are blinded by hatred and have only one goal in mind, get rid of the Conservative government, no matter who leads it.”

Hunter urges us: “If you are as disgusted with this whole situation as I am, get off your butts and go out to the Rally for Canada on Saturday.”
