After three years of controversy, the World Trade University in Chilliwack has vanished. The B.C. Liberal government is philosophical about it.
According to a December 18 story in the Chilliwack Progress, WTU has left town. Its building will soon welcome a new tenant, probably Canadian Border Services.
Early in November, the Confederation of University Faculty Associations of B.C. asked the Liberals to rescind their 2005 law creating the WTU.
Robert Clift, Executive Director of CUFA BC, said: “In three years, this institution hasn’t been able to design a viable degree program and now its website has disappeared.”
Actually, the website is still up. Visit it here.
The Progress story quotes Chilliwack-Sumas Liberal MLA John Les, who backed WTU, as saying: “The only way you never have a failure, is to never attempt anything.”
