With the legislative session to finish today, the NDP spent the final question period before the May 12 election hammering on Liberal insider Patrick Kinsella's resume.
NDP MLAs drew attention to Kinsella's work for Accenture, Alcan, Plutonic Power and the payday lending industry.
Attorney General Wally Oppal answered most of the questions with variations of “it's before the courts.” He acknowledged that many of the companies and agencies named are not before the courts, but added, “The conduct of Patrick Kinsella is before the court . . . We owe a degree of deference to the court.”
The government is hiding behind the courts, said NDP leader Carole James outside the legislature.
“Let's remember, this isn't just a British Columbian, this is the premier's campaign manager, his closest friend,” she said. “He was involved across government . .. He's been involved in deal, after deal, after deal with this government.”
She expects questions about Kinsella's work and his relationship with premier Gordon Campbell will be a focus of the election campaign, she said. “The public wants answers.”
