The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

BC Libs to gather tonight at Wall Centre, owned by big Clark backer

The BC Liberals are gathering at the Sheraton Wall Centre tonight to either watch their party consigned to opposition after 12 years in power, or to cheer what would be a political comeback of epic proportions.

Premier Clark is expected to arrive at the Wall Centre shortly after results are known for the province and her Vancouver-Point Grey riding.

Clark has delivered many speeches at the hotel/conference centre since she began her bid for the party leadership over two years ago.

Wall Centre owner Peter Wall was a big backer of Clark's leadership bid. He and business associate Bob Rennie believed that Clark could provide a fresh face to the BC Liberals and make voters forget the Campbell years.

Doug Ward is filing from the Sheraton Wall Centre tonight as part of The Tyee's 2013 B.C. election reporting team.
