The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

VIDEO: 'I won't be bullied' says ousted BC Conservative

Mischa Popoff, the ousted Conservative candidate in Boundary-Similkameen, has posted a hilarious four-minute rant as his platform as an independent candidate.

"Mischa Popoff Will Not Be Bullied" features the candidate in a black cowboy hat in a field talking to a camera. He does so while a docile bull named Buster head butts him in the rear all through the diatribe.

Popoff lists the tangled history of candidacies in the rural riding before demanding, "The bullying has got to stop."

Popoff was dumped by Conservative leader John Cummins for newspaper articles he had written, including criticizing single mothers for having children "without a man by their side." He also called the Missing Women's Inquiry "a waste of time."

The party called the comments "insensitive and disrespectful."

The candidate blames his former party leader for handing the riding to the BC Liberals.

"Who got to you, John?" he asks.

"John Cummins, you just bullied me and all the farmers and loggers and hard-working people of this riding right out of the picture."
