"In 12 years, I went from singing at the community centre to having my own YouTube channel."
"I graduated high school. Graduated UBC. Got hired. Got fired. And now I'd be grateful for a spot in a political ad!"
"Twelve years? Um, seven tattoos, five -- no, six girlfriends, two boyfriends, three bands, and four bicycles. Still have the same job, though."
Twelve years is a long time -- as long as the BC Liberals have been in power -- point out a series of political ads released today by a consortium of labour unions. And that's long enough, the ads say.
The group of private and public unions behind the campaign is called Moving Forward for Real Change in 2013. Spokesperson Cindy Oliver said the goal of the ads is to "inspire" people to get out and vote through a light-hearted approach.
"The Liberals have had their chance to kick the can, and it's time for some fresh ideas," said Oliver.
The unions, which paid for the ads, include the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators, the United Steelworkers, the Hospital Employees' Union, the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (Local 1518), CUPE BC and the BCIT Faculty and Staff Association.
