A new poll from Angus Reid Public Opinion suggests that the New Democrats hold a 20-point lead on the Liberals amid the fallout from the ethnic outreach scandal.
The poll, taken Monday and Tuesday of this week, has the NDP with 48 per cent support of decided voters, up one percentage point from the last Reid poll, taken March 8-12. The Liberals are at 28 per cent, down three points from the last Reid poll.
The BC Green Party is at 11 per cent (up one point) and the BC Conservatives are up two points at 11 per cent. All changes are within the margin of error for a poll of this sample size.
Reid surveyed 809 B.C. adults drawn from an online panel. A sample of this size drawn at random from the general population would have a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
The poll gives an approval rating of 47 per cent to NDP leader Adrian Dix, up four points from the last Reid poll. Premier Christy Clark trails far behind at 27 per cent, up four points. Green leader Jane Sterk has an approval rating of 27 per cent (up three points) and Conservative leader John Cummins is at 18 per cent (up three points).
Asked who would make the best premier, 31 per cent responded Dix (up one point), 16 per cent said Clark (down five points), six per cent said Cummins (unchanged) and four per cent said Sterk (up one point).
