B.C. New Democrats have scored a candidate they hope will help them take Christy Clark's Liberals to the mat.
Two-time world champion wrestler Chris Wilson has won the NDP nod in the Coquitlam-Burke Mountain riding.
In order to pin the nomination at a meeting in Coquitlam on Sunday, Wilson first had to silence D.O.A punk band founder Joe Keithley, and two other candidates.
NDP leader Adrian Dix says Wilson will be a strong contender in the May 14 provincial election and will be a great asset in the suburban Vancouver riding.
Wilson represented Canada at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games and is the Executive Director of KidSport Tri-Cities.
He says he's looking forward to helping New Democrats give Coquitlam residents a "new and better government."
