"You look out your bedroom window and you can see archeological people digging holes in your yard," says Arlene Boon.
Boon is one of several longtime residents of northeast British Columbia who share how the Site C dam, currently under construction, is affecting their lives in this DeSmog Canada video.
When finished, the dam is expected to flood over 5,300 hectares of farmland and hunting and fishing areas in the region.
The project is controversial due to its environmental toll, cost, and claims of First Nations treaty violations. BC Hydro believes the project necessary to meet the province's rising demand for electricity, but critics have also noted that the demand for electricity is actually on its way down.
Others who share their stories in the video include a schoolteacher and mother, a young boy raised in the region, and the chair of Site C's review panel.
