Remembering Twyla Roscovich, a Champion of Our Coasts

Beloved BC environmental filmmaker found dead at 38.

Submitted by Tyee Staff, 18 Sep 2017

The week-long search on Vancouver Island for Twyla Roscovich, a B.C. environmental documentary filmmaker and wild salmon advocate, came to a tragic end when her body was found on Sept. 16. No foul play is suspected. Roscovich was 38.

Her work focused on B.C.’s coasts with films on salmon, First Nations and oil tankers.

From her Facebook page: “Twyla is so loved. This coast that she lived and fought for with all of her heart is now a lonelier place for her passing. She left us too soon.”

Salmon Confidential is one of her well-known works, which documents the inner workings of the salmon supply chain in B.C. You can watch it above.
