This Year’s Most Popular Tyee Stories

In 2025, readers were drawn in by Trump’s threats, the spectre of far-right extremism, and a landlord with ‘aggressive’ evictions tactics.

This year was a great year, at least numerically, for math nerds — 2025 = (20+25) × (20+25). How fun!

The news and current events front brought less enjoyment. Our top stories indicate that the discourse at the beginning of the year crystallized around Trump’s threats to Canada’s sovereignty. Readers were also interested in far-right figures, renters’ rights and workers’ rights.

In B.C., readers gravitated towards ostriches, a big sockeye salmon return and the nightmare mess left behind by a Port Alice pulp mill.

Outside of our province, readers were most interested in the antics of Danielle Smith and Pierre Poilievre.

We filtered our most-read into two lists. The first reveals the Tyee stories most read by people in B.C. The second list runs down the Tyee stories most popular with all our readers, wherever they lived. Here are the results.
