Theatre Replacement’s much anticipated East Van Panto returns for its 13th year of wacky, joyfully subversive, family-friendly fun! This year, one lucky Tyee reader will win four tickets to East Van Panto: West Van Story. Join us as we say goodbye to the classic fairy tales and hello to a Romeo and Juliet-inspired romp around Vancouver.
When a freak atmospheric tsunami strands West Van influencer Holly and her curling crew, the Hurry Hards, deep in the wilds of East Van, she’s ready for disaster — but not the romantic kind. Enter Joes: charming, striking and a proud member of the East Van Pets... their sworn enemies!
As Holly battles the expectations of her West Van mega-developer motherfather, Boberta Rainy, she finds herself caught between two cities, two families and one seriously unexpected crush. Will she follow her heart — and Joes — into a new world of dance battles, civic resistance and love? Or will Boberta’s towers and renovictions squash everything in their path?
The Cultch is proud to present Theatre Replacement’s East Van Panto: West Van Story at the York Theatre from Nov. 19, 2025, to Jan. 4, 2026. This beloved, made-in-East Van tradition will sweep you away into one wild holiday romance with a dance battle and a housing crisis. Love, laughter and low-income housing — now that’s a triple takeout!
As part of The Cultch and Theatre Replacement’s commitment to making East Van Panto fun for everyone, this year’s show run includes baby-friendly and VocalEye (live audio described) performances, as well as multiple ways to save on tickets. More information on venue accessibility and tickets and showtimes can be found on The Cultch’s website.
