We're standing by (can fish stand?) to receive your donation.

Great news. We're in the downhill stretch to raising the $10,000 we need to fully fund our Tyee Investigative and Reporting Fellowships. Last week our editor David Beers set that goal and kicked off the drive with this request.

Yesterday we nudged just past $5,000. Thanks to all of you who have been so generous!

Now there are just two weeks left, so if you haven't yet given, please do so today. It's easy, safe, and you can also enter a great contest while you're at it. More about how to donate here.

How your gift makes a difference

When you donate, you have a choice whether to support Investigative Reporting or Solutions Reporting.

You can make a secure online donation, or contribute by cheque or credit card.

Here's how your contribution turns into powerful, in-depth work appearing on The Tyee and beyond.

Any journalist can apply for a Tyee fellowship by proposing projects to an independent, blue-ribbon panel. The panel selects the best, who are awarded $5,000 grants.

The projects must shed light on critical issues for British Columbians, with the aim of educating the citizenry.

The Tyee publishes the resulting work, and shares it for free with other publications, with approval of the author.

Result: You are able to directly fund the kind of journalism you crave: hard hitting, independent, educational. And be confident that it is connecting with ten of thousands of people, making a real impact.

Click here for more information on how to donate to the funds.

Journalism with impact!

Previous Tyee reader-funded series have broken major stories, empowered citizens, and won national awards. They've blown the whistle on dangerously inadequate dams on the Fraser River; proven the case for cheap or free public transit; explored brilliant ideas for improving our schools; told the stories of workers demanding and winning toxic-free job sites; chronicled the urban farming revolution brewing in B.C., and much, much more.

How would you like to empower one of our province's best journalists to do more of this kind of reporting -- the kind that really changes the conversation here in British Columbia?

Here is your chance. Please give what you can. And help us meet our goal, now so nearly in reach.

It's fast, safe, easy... and starts by clicking here.

Let's finish this up with a bang! [Tyee]
