[Editor's note: Last month, the now-offline Vancouver Housing Market blogger shared his secret blog sources. This month, Raymi the Minx, who won first-place diarist at the 2006 Weblog Awards, and first-place blog, first-place humour blog and first-place personal blog at the 2006 Canadian Blog Awards, confesses her top daily must-reads. The Known Universe is my friend jamie's blog, he is a great writer and photographer, he lives in brooklyn where i use to live, so i like to spy on the happenings of my old habitat. he documents an entire conversation or a party or a trip to a diner. it makes you feel like you are there too, actually out doing something instead of sitting at your computer. he has also published a book independently and he says he wishes he never did cos it did not explode to huge popularity but it has received many great reviews, i loved it, i read the manuscript in two sittings a few years ago on his couch when i was too much of a headcase to go out and party in brooklyn, his writing is bare bones: no fancy sugar coated bullshit. blogs of people you have met in real life or know in real life are an ultimate pleasure to read, you're friends with or have met these people in real life for a reason and so their blog is just a continuation of that. he's also pretty funny and comes up with some good zingers here and there, subtle and hilarious all the same. he's also a depressive and depressives are by far way more interesting than stupid ignorant phonies who never learn anything from their experiences, boring. he is an amazing painter too, he does portraits of sad fucked up girls.

Hoo Ha is my friend andrea's blog, i have known her since i was 17, she was/is an influence on my writing and how i have shaped my personality on the internet, she is fearless and unashamed to write about the goings-on of her life, she can go on and on about some tiny thing that annoys her and it is totally hilarious and relatable and it's cute when she sometimes writes a follow up post about feeling embarrassed about writing about her mom. she is very funny and i think maybe unaware of it sometimes which makes it more funny. she use to be a stripper but also can fix cars and is extremely intelligent, she knows a lot about computers and other nerdy shit. she is now a mother of two and married, she had a drive thru wedding in vegas, didn't even get out of the car, an example of how she goes about things, i love it. i think more people should read her blog but the selfish part of my brain is saying NO it's MINE. her drawings are great too, she draws sad girls with big eyes. she lives on staten island.

A Vessel, i enjoy very much, i have not met this kid (he's 21 i think) i feel like a grandma when i read his blog and i can't stop leaving my comments of stupid insights and opinions, anyway, he's an ocad student (toronto) and exceptionally talented and smart and creative, he reminds me of this asian kid i hung out with in high school. my boyfriend calls avessel my boyfriend cos i am basically stalking the life of a college kid and his friends. if you know anything about art students this blog is all about that life but it's not annoying art student life, typical or anything. this blog makes me feel lazy which is good, i want a blog to make me feel lazy, if a blog doesn't make me feel lazy and that i could do better then it's mediocre and i shouldn't be reading it. there would be something wrong with me. avessel lives in a house with his fellow students and together they create piles of arty nonsense, all of it is documented, very good eye candy and funny. avessel has a brother who has a blog and lives in ottawa, is a photographer i think freelance by now and it's interesting to see the similarites AND differences between the two -- they're from mississauga as am i so i "get it" and they "get it" i am basically stalking their entire family.

Merkley is an eccentric asshole who hates men and lives in sf and photographs naked women in their favorite shoes and has skyrocketed to fame and riches cos of it, but he is still humble about it, despite being a crabby dick, we have the same temperament, sensitive, insecure and extremely egotistical so we have a lot of funny instant message chats, his blog is basically poo jokes and shit about people who piss him off the cream of it all are the links to his girl photos, he is literally #1 on flickr and each picture has a million comments from knuckleheads praising his work yes i am jealous i am mainly being his friend cos i want the spill over, one day i will meet him and he will photograph me. one look at his work and you will be like oh duh, amazing and feel very ordinary.

Hotdog-Water is a canadian expat chick living in nyc, she is very funny and so is her boyfriend, i hung out with them recently and it was a hilarious trainwreck are you getting the humour blog theme yet? if you want a decent blog you have to be funny. they have another blog called Pancake Tuesday and it is a collection of their short hilarious films, i get lisa's (hotdog-water) humour so i get her posts and how she writes i imagine that she is writing for me something i didn't get around to yet, i get it right away and i love it. you will love her.
