[Editor’s note: In the time it took to write and post this piece, seven more people signed up to become monthly supporting Tyee members we call Builders, pushing the tally to 469. We are happy and grateful to welcome these and more late arrivals! We might just yet hit 500!]
Three weeks ago, we came to our readers with an ask that we’ve made many times before: Help keep our non-profit, paywall-free publication humming along by joining thousands of others in our Tyee Builders program.
Our goal was 500 new recurring supporters, and by the midnight deadline, 462 had signed up. We tend to emphasize recurring (monthly or annual) contributions because those help support ongoing staff positions, but of course we also very much appreciate the hundreds of people who also gave one-time contributions to this campaign. To see a list of all who contributed to this campaign (unless they chose to remain anonymous), go to this page and scroll down.
The Tyee Builders program has become the core of how we operate and why The Tyee still exists. All revenue raised in these campaigns goes to paying our talented staff and freelance journalists to do their thing and focus on publishing the best work possible that is of value to readers. Thank you for allowing us to continue to do this work!
The official deadline that we set has passed for this campaign, but we’ll leave the donation tracker up for the rest of the week. If you still want to join us, you’re of course always welcome. ![]()
