The Vancouver International Film Festival Festival is celebrating its 42nd year this season with a stellar lineup of some of the world’s best cinema — from Sept. 28 to Oct. 8, over 130 films will light up screens across Vancouver.
This year, The Tyee is proud to partner with VIFF on the Insights series, an established stream that focuses on documentaries that change the way we see the world. Journeys, expeditions and roads less travelled are at the heart of many the showcase's titles:
- Two outstanding environmental documentaries emerge with possible solutions from the ocean depths in Deep Rising and the world’s soils in Common Ground
- We see the hard-won successes of South Asian Canadians thriving in Canada's national sport in Mareya Shot, Keetah Goal: Make the Shot
- The concepts of compassion and care are presented in profiles of addiction expert Gabor Maté and through a unique psychiatric centre floating on the Seine in On the Adamant.
Two lucky readers will win full festival passes to this year's event. Enter to win below and view the full festival program at the VIFF website.
