Saskatchewan farmer Percy Schmeiser describes the need for such GE-Free zones and Andy Morel discusses the future of the Kootenays campaign.

Also in this episode, an exclusive interview with Percy Schmeiser and his wife Louise about their personal battle with Monsanto and how it has transformed their lives.

Percy and Louise Schmeiser, farmer, www.percyschmeiser.com (Bruno, Sask.) -- Schmeiser, a 77-year-old farmer, and his wife Louise have received global recognition for their passion and devotion to standing up for the rights of farmers. In December 2007, the Schmeiser's were awarded the Right Livelihood Award (also known as the "alternative Nobel"). "I have always campaigned on the right of the farmer to save and re-use his own seed. This is what I have been doing for the last 50 years. I will continue to support any efforts to strengthen the rights of a farmer to save and re-use his own seed."

Andy Morel, spokesperson, GE-Free Kootenays (Rossland, B.C.) -- Andy is on the steering committee of GE-Free Kootenyas. He recently ran as the Green Party candidate for BC Southern Interior in the 2008 federal election.

Kim Charlesworth, spokesperson, GE-Free Kootenays Nelson, B.C.) -- Kim is on the steering committee of GE-Free Kootenays. She is current;y running for city council in the City of Nelson.
