On April 4, Gathie Falk receives the Audain Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Visual Arts.
The prize is awarded to a B.C. artist each year. To mark the tenth year of the award, this year two artists will receive the $30, 000 prize. Landscape painter Takao Tanabe, 86, will also receive the award.
Falk's work covers nearly every medium --ranging from performance art to painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.
This is not Falk's first time winning a substantial art award. She also has received the Gershon Iskowitz art prize, the Order of Canada and the Governor General's Award for Visual Arts.
Falk, who is 85, has no plans to retire. She continues to hold art shows once every one to two years.
To spend some time with Falk and hear her perspective on making art, watch the accompanying audio slide show.
