Tyee Builders Zoom Past Member Drive Goal

In just 11 days, over 500 readers signed up to give monthly. Thank you! Now we’re upping the ante.

On May 17, we issued a challenge to our readers: Join Tyee Builders and help us grow the percentage of our regular readers who chip in financially to support the magazine.

We set our target at 500 and hoped to reach it by June 7. Yesterday, whoops of joy rang out in The Tyee’s at-home offices as signups sailed past that target only halfway into our campaign.

Our ask is simple: If you regularly read The Tyee and find that it adds something to your days, and you are in a position to do so, consider signing up to Tyee Builders at an amount that works for you. In doing so, you are providing needed resources to our growing team and supporting open access for all readers, regardless of their ability to pay.

Our long-term goal is to reach one per cent of our average monthly readers signed up as monthly Tyee Builders. Hitting this initial target brings us that much closer to that long-term goal (it moves us from about 0.6 per cent to 0.67 per cent)!

Since we still have lots of time on the clock and we’ve been surprised by the response, we’re upping our goal to 850 new monthly members by June 7. Click here and join us now.

If we hit this target, it will be the best performance of any of our fundraising campaigns to date, and we’ve been at this for a while.

These Tyee Builder campaigns mean more to our team than resources to do our work. Each signup is felt very personally by everyone on our team. It means a lot that even though people have the option of reading us for free, lots of people are choosing to help us do even more. It tells us that we are doing something right, and that our work is reaching people on the other side of the screen. So thank you.

We take our readers’ desire for impactful journalism to heart and hustle all year to publish our best work. At the end of the year, we share what we were able to do with our Tyee Builders' support in our annual impact report (see 2020’s here).

All the money we raise goes straight back into our editorial budget and helps us reach more people. Help us hit our stretch goal of 850 new monthly Tyee Builders by June 7 and sign up today. [Tyee]
