Farnworth set to announce NDP leadership intentions

Port Coquitlam MLA Mike Farnworth appears set to enter the NDP leadership campaign.

Farnworth has scheduled an event to “announce his intentions regarding the leadership of the BC New Democrats” at noon on Thursday in Port Coquitlam.

A Dec. 23 Angus Reid poll found 40 percent of British Columbians and 49 percent of people who voted NDP in 2009 thought he would be a good choice to replace Carole James, who resigned as NDP leader Dec. 6.

Juan de Fuca MLA John Horgan, Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons, Fraser-Nicola MLA Harry Lali and cannabis activist Dana Larsen have already announced they are seeking the NDP leadership.
