NDP request criminal investigation over BC Rail deal

The B.C. New Democratic Party has asked the RCMP to investigate possible Criminal Code breaches over the sale of BC Rail.

Nanaimo NDP candidate and lawyer Leonard Krog sent a letter this morning to Gary Bass, a deputy commissioner with the police force, asking him to look into possible criminal offences committed by former B.C. Liberal Party strategist Patrick Kinsella over his alleged dealings in the sale of the railway.

Both Kinsella and CN Rail may have broken the law concerning the sale of BC Rail, Krog said, and British Columbians have a right to know what happened.

“These are important issues - they need to be investigated,” Krog told reporters at a press conference this morning outside Vancouver’s BC Law Courts building.

Yesterday, the NDP released an ad slamming both the circumstances surrounding the sale of the railway and Premier Gordon Campbell’s refusal to answer questions about it.

“The premier has had every opportunity to come clean on this and he has arrogantly refused to do so,” Krog said today.
