The Hook: Political news, freshly caught

Adam Olsen named new interim Green leader

The BC Green Party has appointed Adam Olsen as interim leader, following the resignation of Jane Sterk two weeks ago.

Olsen ran in a close three-way race in the May provincial election, losing to the NDP's Gary Holman.

Previously, he served as a Central Saanich councillor for two terms, making history in 2008 as the first First Nations member elected to council, according to his website.

Former Green leader Jane Sterk announced she was stepping down two weeks ago, revealing the news on Twitter that she "Had a good run, at best b4 date, want new adventures." Sterk lost her own riding of Victoria-Beacon Hill to former NDP leader Carole James.
