Yoga, real estate and restaurant moguls to host BC Lib fundraiser

The BC Liberals hope the star power of three prominent hosts will make one of party's key annual fundraisers the most successful ever this year. A slight ticket price hike may not hurt either.

This year's Vancouver Premier's Dinner is scheduled for April 8, and the party hopes to best the earnings of last year's dinner, which reached over $500,000 according to a spokesman. That event was the most fruitful fundraiser in BC Liberal history, he said, with funds going to general party coffers.

A single ticket for this April's dinner costs $400 -- up from $350 in 2012. A table for 10 this year costs $4,000.

"Key B.C. business leaders" Christine Day, CEO of lululemon; Richard Jaffray, founder of Cactus Restaurants Ltd.; and Bob Rennie, director of Rennie Marketing Systems will chair the annual event, the party announced today. Chairs help plan the dinner, drive ticket sales and act as hosts.

"It's an opportunity for us as co-chairs and the business community more broadly to step up and show support for the Party that represents free enterprise values and focuses on creating jobs," said Rennie in a statement today. "Today's BC Liberals have their priorities in order, they want to grow the economy so all British Columbians can enjoy a more secure future."

This year's dinner takes place at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
