With the provincial election just two months away, for many groups this is a critical time to get their messages out to the voting public.

But Bill 42 is forcing some hard choices because it restricts how much can be spent on pre-election political advertising.

At The Tyee, we'd like to help. So, we're offering our Bill 42 Special on advertising rates.

Between now and voting day, May 12, 2009, for anyone with a pre-election political message, we are extending our economical, non-profit rates.

The Tyee is a great place to advertise during the election. Five reasons:

1. More than 96 per cent of Tyee readers are of legal age to vote.

2. Tyee readers are politically active. In the last year, 54 per cent report having written a letter to a politician and 25 per cent report having volunteered for a political campaign.

3. The Tyee is efficient: 89 per cent of our traffic is from within B.C.

4. The Tyee has the ability to geo-target your ad campaign. This means, if you wish, your ad can be visible just to readers in certain regions of the province. Regions available are B.C., Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and B.C. North. Another way to use this feature is to tailor different ads with different messaging to readers in different specific regions.

5. Advertising with The Tyee was already very reasonably priced -- now it's a steal of a deal.

Some examples:

-A one-month, run-of-site campaign would cost between $2,475 and $3,600.

-A one-month campaign geo-targeted to B.C. would cost between $2,200 and $3,200.

-A one-month campaign geo-targeted to Greater Vancouver would cost between $1,430 and $2,070.

-A one-month campaign geo-targeted to B.C. North would cost between $700 and $1015.

-A one-month campaign geo-targeted to Vancouver Island would cost between $300 and $450. Examples are based on all available traffic in each region for the duration of one month. Partial campaigns both by date range and volume of traffic purchased are available.
