"I'm a nurse, so I see the effects of what happens out there. And it's very empowering to be here with all women, it's a safe, empowering feeling. It's not usually safe to be in the park, which makes me really angry, I guess." (Kim Sorensen)

"People see brown faces and they don't think we're feminists too, but we're also fighting for our rights."
"The president of Pakistan said that the women who were gang raped and now trying to come to Canada are making an excuse that they've been raped just to get into Canada. Which means he doesn't think Canada is a country with some dignity, and he doesn't think those women have any dignity. Who would say, "I was raped" just for immigration? No. These are very irresponsible comments." (Harminder Sanghera)

"I like to run and I've always been a runner and it bothers me that I can't run and go around the park at night. I used to run with my parents when I was 10, and we could run anywhere without worrying, and now it's different. And it bothers me that I can't even go though some streets at night. I live downtown and I love it and I'm not about to move, but I want to be able to use the park at night. And since I've had my son, I look out for those places even more. I would go to some places but now I won't, not with him, and that annoys me. It annoys me a lot." (Zoe Beroia)

"I just moved here from Toronto. And I want to be able to go out in my new city and meet people -- I don't want to feel like there are lots of parts I can't go to."

"Tonight, we're all here in solidarity. We're all subject to the same fears. It doesn't matter about your ethnic heritage or age, we all life in fear at night."
