Over the last few years, social media platforms have transformed significantly, and our behaviours on them have changed as well.
X, formerly known as Twitter, has seen successive migrations off-site due to its owner Elon Musk’s weaponization of the platform and his political activities. The Tyee itself stopped posting on X recently because of these changes.
News was banned on Facebook and Instagram for Canadian users on its sites in response to Bill C-18, which would require tech giants like Meta and Google to pay for the news content on their sites.
And people are increasingly interacting with news and information on video platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
These changes reflect a broader social media shakeup taking place on the internet and in society, and will likely affect the way people use social media now and in the future.
With all this in mind, we want to ask:
Has your social media use changed?
