Canadian leaders on all levels have been scrambling since U.S. presidential elect Donald Trump threatened a 25-per-cent tariff on goods exported from Canada and Mexico.
As Canada’s biggest trade partner and a member in trade agreements like NAFTA and the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement, or CUSMA, tariffs from the U.S. would likely be devastating for economies across North America.
Over the last month, responses from politicians north of the border have ranged from optimistic to making concessions to some or all of Trump’s demands to extending fighting words to appeals for a united approach.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has since met with Trump to talk about the tariff proposal and has urged Canadians “not to freak out” — but with the Liberal leadership up in the air following his recent resignation announcement and a federal election looming on the horizon, it’s easier said than done.
With all this in mind, we want to ask:
Are you worried about Trump’s tariffs?
