We wouldn’t be in the midst of a global pandemic if it wasn’t for air travel.
Before the pandemic, it was a part of life for many. Visiting family on the other side of the country, going on holiday to a new place, or returning to a treasured locale.
For the majority of the world’s population, transoceanic distances are travelled by air, and the more privilege we have, the more likely we are to choose air for shorter distances. But air travel has long been recognized as one of the most significant personal choices contributing to greenhouse emissions.
Now the pandemic is proving what we knew already: with countries worldwide in lockdown and air travel at an all-time low in since its commercial rise in the mid-20th century, we are seeing an unprecedented decrease in global emissions. So we want to ask:
