Whoa, Tyee Readers Pledge More than $75,000 for Election Journalism

We're overwhelmed by your generosity.

Tyee Staff 14 Apr 2015TheTyee.ca

Thank you Tyee readers! You helped us reach our election campaign funding goal, and then some. We're overwhelmed by your generosity.

As of midnight, you contributed more than $75,000, an amazing feat given that our initial goal was $50,000.

If you've been tracking the progress of our fundraising efforts over the last three weeks, you may have watched the red ticker on our campaign page creep closer to our goal.

Last week, we reached our initial target and decided to stretch it -- to $75,000. Sure enough, over the weekend, the red ticker inched closer to our new aim. We watched in amazement as the Tyee support network surged across the country.

In the end, more than 1,300 people contributed to the campaign, a testament to the thirst among readers for independent, hard-hitting, Tyee-style journalism.

Now it's time for us to fulfill our obligation to you. We'll get to work this week to plan the election coverage you helped fund. It will be fair, aggressive, issue-oriented and designed expressly for the loyal readers who helped fund it. [Tyee]
