Wilbur Turner

Wilbur Turner (he/him/his) identifies as gay and queer and resides in Kelowna, B.C. on the unceded traditional lands of the Syilx people. He is the chair and founder of Advocacy Canada, a non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Turner is also the 2SLGBTQIA+ sector representative on Kelowna’s Community Advisory Board on Homelessness, previously led the Kelowna Pride, Fierté Canada Pride and Living Positive Resource Centre boards, and helped found Kelowna’s Etcetera 2SLGBTQIA+ youth group. He was grand marshal for the Kelowna Pride march in 2022 and the Trans Pride March in 2017, having helped launch the inaugural event in 2014.

In his spare time, Wilbur is a photographer, writer and foodie. He also refers to himself as a plant daddy and has an adorable rescue dog named Poncho.
