Sean Robinson

Sean Robinson, or Yagabax (the x is pronounced like the ch in chutzpah), is a Nisga’a-Métis writer. After graduating from the University of Northern British Columbia’s history program with honours in May 2025, he began working in his home community of Laxgalts’ap as an educational assistant and mentor for high school students in the Nisga’a Nation. In 2025, he received the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation in recognition of his contributions to communities in northern British Columbia. Robinson’s writing has been published in the Prince George-based literary journal Thimbleberry, as well as The New Quarterly, and was featured as one of their selected authors for Indigenous History Month in July 2025. He enjoys writing down and relaying stories connected to the history of his family and their work along the Nass River. In his free time, Robinson has been learning the ins and outs of working on fishing boats on the North Coast, in case all this writing doesn’t work out for him. He is beginning the master of arts in English program at the University of Victoria in 2025, alongside an internship at the CBC’s Victoria bureau. Sean appreciates feedback and commentary on his writing and would love it if you contacted him at @sean._.robinson on Instagram to share your thoughts.
