Paul Schachter

Paul Schachter has been a justice advocate starting from the 1960’s U.S. civil rights and anti-war movements.

A retired lawyer with over 45 years of experience, Paul handled human rights, civil liberties and union cases at all levels. During the past 20 years in B.C., he has been a conflict resolution specialist, served on the boards of social services programs and community charities, and been vice-president of the BC Civil Liberties Association.

He was a member of the Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board from 2021 to 2022. He remains actively involved in organizations furthering Black history awareness, diversity, equity and inclusion, medical assistance in dying and live symphony music.
