Joseph Kakwinokanasum is a member of the James Smith Cree Nation. He is a graduate of the Writer’s Studio and the Writer’s Studio Graduate Workshop at Simon Fraser University. He was shortlisted for the 2020 CBC Non-Fiction Prize.
His work has been published in The Humber Literary Review (2020 summer issue) and in emerge 18: The Writer’s Studio Anthology (2018). For his manuscript, Woodland Creetures, he was awarded the 2014 Canada Council for the Arts creation grant for Aboriginal peoples, writers and storytellers.
