B.C. Magazine

Next week, on B.C. Day, the province celebrates 150 years -- its sesquicentennial birthday. In fact, British Columbians have been celebrating all year with events, festivals, rodeos and parades in communities around the province. The Tyee might be a little late to the party, but we've come bearing gifts.

In fact, we've teamed up with British Columbia Magazine to put together a little B.C.-themed birthday present for the first 200 new Tyee subscribers. Simply sign up for a free subscription to The Tyee's daily or weekly e-newsletter, and you'll receive a free copy of British Columbia Magazine's Special Collector's Issue, featuring a visual history of B.C.'s first 150 years. The issue includes 18 pages of historical pictures of the province's iconic past, plus a map detailing Simon Fraser's daring expedition along the Fraser River.

What's more, your free gift also includes a beautiful bear poster and magnet, along with free daily or weekly delivery of Tyee stories straight to your inbox.

Subscribe now, because this special offer won't last long. And if you're already a Tyee subscriber, forward this opportunity to your friends -- even if they aren't in B.C.! We're sure they'll share their birthday goodies with you. [Tyee]

    Well most of us Islanders

Well most of us Islanders consider this just a holidayrd. We decidedly do not celebrate our association with the government of the lower mainland. It has forgotten the rest of BC but the oil patch. We believe in treating our seniors, disabled and poor properly.
