This year, The Tyee has been lucky enough to get tickets to a famously popular Vancouver tradition -- the Folk Music Festival. This year's festival runs from July 17-19 at Jericho beach. If you win, you'll get two full-day tickets for Saturday's festivities -- a $152.00 value!
This year, the festival is bringing us more than 60 artists from 14 countries, with seven daytime stages, a children's area, food, crafts, and community tables (ours included -- interested in volunteering? Send us an e-mail). Artists include Arrested Development, Los de Abajo, Steven Page, Mavis Staples, Iron & Wine, The Proclaimers, The Weakerthans, and Jorge Miguel Flamenco.
The festival is famous for its community-centred, grassroots approach, which avoids big stars, instead celebrating local artists for an "ultimately more satisfying" theme that stands out from other western Canadian folk festivals. It has been named one of USA TODAY's "Top Ten Great Places to Be Outdoors" and attracts more than 10,000 people from across Canada and the U.S. every year.
To win a pair of full-day tickets, e-mail us here with Vancouver Folk Music Festival in the subject line and your full name. Entrants will also be signed up for our weekly e-newsletter -- you must reply to our e-mail confirmation in order to be entered in this contest.
The Tyee never rents, sells or shares its information. For more info read our privacy policy. Contest closes at noon on Tuesday, July 14 and winners will be notified by e-mail. For more details on this year’s festival, go to thefestival.bc.ca. ![]()
