You've probably heard by now: The Tyee is raising money to cover the provincial election that's likely coming soon to British Columbia.
It's been a week since we first asked you to vote on your top election-related issues and to donate to our Election Reporting Fund, so we're checking in to let you know where we stand.
The chart above shows the breakdown of issues that you who have donated are directing The Tyee to investigate leading into and during the next provincial election in B.C.
Here's what we've heard from those who have given:
Almost half of donors have asked us to use their money as we see fit, making "Tyee's Choice" the most popular option.
Environmental news is also a top priority. Donors are telling us they want better coverage of issues like smart meters, run-of-river projects, fracking, oil tankers off the B.C. coast, food security, and climate change.
Arts and culture issues are also a top news priority for readers as the candidates campaign for leadership of our province.
So to all those that have donated to fund election coverage and told us what news matters most, thank you. You've pulled us halfway to our goal already, with $5,000 received.
For you who haven't yet voted and donated, there's still time to give, and to help us reach our goal of raising $10,000.
Have a look at the chart above. How is your top issue doing? Does it need a little boost? You can help make sure it gets plenty of coverage by voting and donating now.

Remember, more votes = more reporting. Before we close the fundraiser on Friday, you can also share this with your friends, family, and co-workers, or post it on Facebook or Twitter using the links at the top and bottom of this page.
