BC Comedians Take Over CBC Contest

Submitted by Tyee staff, 12 Nov 2014

Who are the funniest up-and-coming comedians in Canada? According to an ongoing CBC contest, half the country's hottest emerging comedy teams all hail from British Columbia.

On Monday, CBC's Comedy Coup announced its top 15 projects competing for $500,000 in production financing and a half-hour primetime special. That includes Vancouver's Laugh Gallery host Graham Clark in "Wilderness Man" (see above), Sunday Service improvisor Ryan Beil (who coincidentally also makes a cameo above) co-starring in "Heir Heads" and stand-up whiz Sunee Dhaliwal in "Buddy Guys."

No less than seven of the 15 finalists are B.C.-grown, more than Montreal and Toronto put together. Check 'em out here.
