Welcome to the club, Tyee Builders.

And we're done! Three weeks ago, we asked readers to help write The Tyee's next chapter by growing our base of monthly support.

Hundreds of readers answered the call with monthly and one-time contributions. As of midnight, readers added more than $50,000 to our yearly budget.

And with $13,930 coming in every month, reliable support from Tyee Builders is the highest it has ever been.

True, we didn't quite make the lofty $20,000 target set in late November. But the Builder boost edges us even closer to a model funded primarily by readers -- our ultimate goal.

With this new support, our team can tackle more stories, sift more solutions, and bring you more original journalism you won't read anywhere else.

As Tyee's founding editor David Beers said in a recent personal letter, over the years many doubted readers would fund reporting they could read online for free.

But time and time again, readers have shown us they want quality, investigative, solutions-oriented journalism, and are willing to put in their money to make it happen. For that, we are deeply grateful. [Tyee]
