Attention, residents of British Columbia! You have until 8 p.m. tonight to cast your ballot in this, the province's 40th general election.

This election signals a major shift in the political climate in British Columbia. The NDP, ahead in the polls since the early days of the election, is now poised to win government, though the most recent numbers have shown the Liberals tightening the race up. This year could be a historic one for independent candidates -- some pollsters predicting as many as four will win seats -- and of course for the Greens.

That's the big picture. But local matters, and in the days, weeks and months leading up to today, The Tyee has worked to provide readers with detailed information on each of the province's 85 ridings.

Our Election Map and Guide offers just the facts in an easy-to-use format. Search by riding to find out which candidates are running, how the parties have fared in past elections, and links to Tyee coverage specific to that region.

The guide's candidates page offers a breakdown of 376 individuals in this race, and allows readers to search by name for specific candidates, with links to each of the candidate's web pages.

For more in-depth coverage and analysis, follow this link to find all of The Tyee's election features, including our Top 10 Ridings to Watch and our forecast for how each riding will swing. We updated those just yesterday.

You'll see The Tyee's Election Hook is now our cover story this morning. That's because we'll have reporters on the ground starting late this afternoon and into the evening -- at the BC Liberal and NDP election headquarters, in Victoria with the Greens, in Langley with the Conservatives, and a few other locales -- and they'll be filing quick reports all night long. You can look back into the Hook's recent archives to find all kinds of recent news items too, on the candidates, the parties, the platforms, the race, the ads and the media.

Join us on Twitter tonight @thetyee as the action unfolds. And as always, thanks to Tyee readers for supporting our journalism and sharing our stories. If we could, we'd vote for you. [Tyee]
