We're twelve days into our contest with Retailpond -- a new website that aims to help you grow your local economy by helping you discover and support quality local artisans and independent brands.

(Learn more about how Retailpond works, and what inspired founder Dominic Stann to get it going here.)

All you have to do to enter to win one of the 13 locally made prizes is sign up to explore Retailpond's beta site, and create a quick, simple profile. There's no commitment, and your email won't be shared with other parties.

Then to take it up a notch for the $500 gift (which can used to buy anything on Retailpond between the contest's end date and June 30, 2014), just tell us a bit about the local products you love, or make.

Maybe it's one-of a kind local jeweller. Or an innovative wooden kids' toy. Beautifully made re-purposed leather accessories, locally designed clothing, or cheeky stationary. Whatever it is, tell us about it. Retailpond is launching with dozens of curated Vancouver-area artisans and independent brands, but would love your "crowd-curated" suggestions for who should be added next to their "shelves." And what city should come next in its eventual North-America wide expansion.

Every submission is being published on The Tyee, so this fun and fast "crowd curation" exercise will quickly create a big list of quality artisans and locally-owned brands from all across Canada for readers to check out. Artisans and entrepreneurs: By all means tells us about your own product!

Consider this a crowd-sourced showcase that Retailpond's curators will watch for ideas, and Tyee readers will scan to see what's out there. Our easy submission form asks you to identify yourself as the designer/producer, so there's no need to feel shy about promoting your creations.

Alright, what are you waiting for? Get started with your entry now.

Check out some of our readers' recommendations so far (then pen your own to win!)

I love Boreal Forest Poster (and all of their items!) by Banquet Atelier & Workshop from Vancouver.
I love the work that Banquet does - we have two of their prints up in our home (and love the cards) and the Boreal Forest print is a fave for our 2 year old. It's so great to be able to point at animals and flora and hear her name them - definitely both unconventional and beautiful, which is really what it's all about for us!
Melinda M.

I love Kid's Clothing by Redfish Kids from Vancouver.
Supercute & unique Asian-inspired clothing for kids.

I love RVN Industrial Lighting by Robyn Murrell from New Westminster.
RVN Industrial Lighting is an amazing mix of vintage pieces combined with an industrial edge that creates a lighting fixture that makes a statement with any decorating style. Robyn's items are all one of a kind and made with such creative energy. I can't decide which lights are my favourite - her Crank-it-Over line made with recycled bike parts, the crystal footed bowls turned pendants or the aged farming cream separator pendant that casts a subtle design on the ceiling!! I wish I had one of her unique lights in every room of my home.

I love garments by ad lib from Vancouver.
Zoe has designed a suit using material which recreates the style of an aerogramme letter as its print motif. As someone who spent her childhood skulking about McGills Stationery on Londsdale, this fusion makes me very happy indeed.

I love Herb Garden by Urban Zucchini from Vancouver.
Living in an apartment downtown, I would love for a little green space to grow my own veggies, but it's just not in the cards. My cute little herb garden has chives, cilantro, and parsley and grows so well in the sun-lit window. The handmade box it comes in is so cute and goes well with my apartment. It's lovely having fresh herbs in the house, and makes me want to eat much healthier.
